Rachel sat down and smiled at Quinn as she poured herself a glass. She wasn’t sure why Quinn decided to go all out with this- normally their date nights consisted of stay-in movies and homemade dinner. It was a change in pace, but she wasn’t complaining about it at all. She looked over her girlfriend and smiled at the way she was dressed; Quinn had this way of dressing so casual, but still looking so amazing in whatever she decided to wear.
"So.. What’s the reason of this special night?" She bit her lip and took a sip, taking her girlfriend’s hand across the table. She hoped Quinn was comfortable with this.. She was already out around the city, she just wanted Quinn to be okay with it as well. That was the last thing she needed- Quinn to walk out on her because she had pushed a bit.
Quinn’s tongue traced her bottom lip as she watched Rachel across the table. She knew she was probably wondering why they were in such a nice restaurant, when they were usually quiet and reserved about their relationship in the open. It had been Rachel’s idea- keeping it quiet so Quinn wasn’t harrassed by the Broadway paps and her fans. Quinn liked it to a degree, it meant they could have a normal relationship, but she did get funny looks from the ushers when she went to see Funny Girl for the 20th time and never actually paying for a ticket. Rachel’s friends in the cast knew about Quinn, she hung out backstage before the show sometimes. It was nice, just being a normal couple with Rachel. No drama she knew would have occurred if they had dated in High School, Just them. Quinn and Rachel.
"I just wanted to spoil my girl a bit" Quinn smiled softly, her lips red from the lipstick. Her fingers caressed Rachel’s hand slowly as she looked across at her. "The restaurant does vegan if you want" Quinn said softly, enjoying the intimacy of the moment, her heart was fluttering with every passing moment. Seeing Rachel like this, out in the open, beautiful and blushing just made Quinn fall even more in love with her.
Rachel walked into the restaurant that Quinn wanted her to meet her at. She didn’t know why she and Quinn didn’t just walk together- they lived together after all. She was dressed in a black skin-tight dress with black pumps; courtesy of one Kurt Hummel and his connections at Vogue. She missed her and Quinn’s date nights; they hadn’t had one in a while and she loved it when they would try to out-do each other with their dates. She smiled at the memories and walked over to the table where she saw the familiar blonde head of hair.
"Hey babe.." She said with a grin, leaning over the table to peck Quinn’s lips before she sat down. The restaurant was semi-secluded; there was a variety of people there but she knew that you had to at least have a reservation to get into the place. She set her bag down next to her and folded her hands into her lap, smiling at the blonde. “How was your day?"
Quinn was sat in the restaurant, nervously tapping her hand. She was sure that Rachel would be suspicious considering she had insisted they go to the restaurant separately, but she had needed to make sure everything was set up correctly. Tonight was the night. The night Quinn Fabray saw what she was made of and finally asked Rachel Berry to marry her. She’d had the ring for a couple weeks now and finally decided how she wanted to plan it out.
Quinn jumped slightly when she heard Rachel’s voice but smiled into the kiss and took Rachel’s hand as she sat down “Baby, you look absolutely amazing” Rachel really did look a million bucks in her dress, and now Quinn felt underdressed in a simple light green dress she knew complimented her eyes. Quinn smiled softly as she looked over at her amazingly gorgeous girlfriend. “My day was good, I got us some champagne to start off with.” She gestured to the glasses on the table
It was silly what she was doing, wasn’t it? Absolutely absurd, totally preposterous. And yet, with all these feelings in her head, Quinn felt like it was the right thing to do. The perfect thing to do. The one way to make Rachel hers forever. It was coming up to the anniversary of Quinn finding Rachel again, of those heated, passionate kisses she stole in dressing room which were also full of anger and hatred. But, a year is a long time. They were going steady, getting on well. Being everything Quinn had wished for when she was younger. Her ideal life with Rachel.
They would start the day curled into each other. Usually Quinn would wake up first and watch Rachel sleep for a couple minutes before before peppering her face with kisses until she woke up. A sleepy “Good Morning Beautiful” and her day would already be made. They’d lie there and talk, somewhere along the way breakfast and coffee would turn up in bed with them. Eventually they’d get out of bed and go about their days. Quinn still went to see Funny girl at least once a week. She couldn’t get over how talented her girlfriend was. Even after all they’d been through.
So it wasn’t preposterous really. Quinn was just ensuring that they would stay this way forever. She didn’t want a mishap like what had happened with Brody again. She just wanted something solid. Something that meant they were each others. So, with a deep breath. Quinn entered the jewellers.
